Whole Home Remodel
with a 2-level addition

  • The clients purchased a home for their retirement. They desired a home-office for his consulting business, and a guest suite for visitors or a future caregiver. They wanted an open and bright great room for entertaining with family and friends. To make use of the in-ground pool, they requested a larger deck, and poolside areas for lounging (and for a future outdoor kitchen / grill area).

  • The walls separating the galley kitchen were removed to create a great room with a raised ceiling, skylights, refaced fireplace, and conditioned wine-storage and pantry space. The entry was moved to a new location; the formal living room and dining room were expanded by reclaiming space from an existing bathroom. A Nana-door system was installed in the formal dining room to the new, expanded deck area.

A 650-sqft two-story addition was added to include a new Primary Bed & Bath and a caregiver suite on the ground floor. A few of the Universal Design features included additional lighting, door levers, grab bars in all bathrooms, and minimal use of carpe. A design for a future elevator was also included.

Three bathrooms were remodeled or moved to new locations.
